He’d observed German and Japanese children reared on propaganda during World War II and began to realize that, instead of that negative influence, he had a skill that could make a positive difference. He started writing with the rhythm and rhyme for which he’s now known, and it tickles me to see the way that style and his expertise develop in this story collection, and to know that others will now be able to appreciate and enjoy it, too.”" quote from the article (to read the rest) Publisher's Weekly

Book Anniversaries

Librarians and readers; publishers, too, of course, will be excited to learn that several classics/series are reaching milestones. Again, the webquest to follow is Mrs. Kelly's Media Centre.

The Grade 4's have learned all about encyclopedias and are now ready for any report you give them. They have learnt how to find topics, how to put the information into point form (make notes), and finally most are starting to make a report from their notes. They have been really working hard and are excellent research students.

Kindergarten students listened to the story: Mrs. Wishy-Washy's Farm by Joy Cowley. They are starting various activities to go with this hilarious story of farm animals running away to the city to avoid Mrs. Wishy-Washy's washing.
