The Grade 5's began to learn about the internet and the proper way to use it. Again, the webquest to follow is Mrs. Kelly's Media Centre.

The Grade 4's have learned all about encyclopedias and are now ready for any report you give them. They have learnt how to find topics, how to put the information into point form (make notes), and finally most are starting to make a report from their notes. They have been really working hard and are excellent research students.

Kindergarten students listened to the story: Mrs. Wishy-Washy's Farm by Joy Cowley. They are starting various activities to go with this hilarious story of farm animals running away to the city to avoid Mrs. Wishy-Washy's washing. The first thing they are doing is creating Mrs. Wish-Washy.

Grade 5 Library Class

The Grade 5 class has been starting to learn the Dewey Decimal system. I found a wonderful website that the students are really enjoying. Mrs. Kelly's Media Center http://www.emerson.k12.nj.us/staff/rmkelly/custom/finalweb/Index.html has the student follow directions, learn about all parts of the Resource Centre and at levels, achieve a piece of the puzzle. Following the Media Centre, she also instructs them on using the internet.

I supplemented each section of the Dewey Decimal system with a handout explaining the breakdown and a short quiz or activity.
